When the sin of envy rears its head in our lives, it displays a fundamental thanklessness and selfishness within us. Furthermore, it can illustrate our distrust of God (who can and does bless others as He sees fit) or show that our desires are contrary to God’s Word (for example, when we envy the supposed success of the wicked in their sin). Christian love, however, is not envious but rather rejoices to see the goodness of God bestowed upon others; it refuses to look longingly at the supposed ‘sweetness’ of sin and instead embraces the kind of contented godliness which is of great gain.

Pastor Jeff Evans and his family moved to Minnesota in January of 2010 to begin shepherding Christ Church Twin Cities. He studied at Hillsdale College (Hillsdale, MI), The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, KY) and then at Greyfriars Hall (Moscow, ID).
